Ieva Siliņa, chairwoman

Completed the PhD in Management and is working on a dissertation for the National Research Programme. Scientific interests: rural area in Vidzeme, small and micro entrepreneurship.

Runs ALYS Project Task Force, has implemented a number of projects in education policy and promotion of science. Organized Future scientist forum with more than 700 participants both in person and online, developed criteria for scientific institutions research program assessment, created a new page Jauno ZINĀTne in Facebook, which already has more than five hundred followers.

Envisions the future of Organization in three sectors: science communication, science policy and networking platform for young scientists.

Hobbies – Leisure activities, literature, alternative pedagogy.

Dr. Kitija Bite

Kitija Bite

Doctor of Laws (Dr. iur.), science subsector – police law. Defended thesis on „The legal regulation of career course in Latvian Police”.

Professional interests – service rights and employment law. Also interested in history of law in different periods of time.

Participated in the legal sciences direction evaluation of the Ministry of Education and Science (MES) ERDF project evaluation commission. Has been in charge of ALYS summer camps. As well as led seminars about the promotion process. Future activities in ALYS includes organization of events and creation of PhD student support program.

Hobbies – snowboarding, travelling, history, literature and to educate students.

 

 

Dr. Guntars Kitenbergs

Guntars Kitenbergs

Physicist, received a doctoral degree in 2015 for a thesis “Hydrodynamic instabilities in microfluidic magnetic fluid flows”, which was carried out in joint doctoral studies between the University of Latvia and the University of Pierre and Marie Curie (UPMC) in Paris, France (supervisors – Prof. Andrejs Cēbers un Prof. Regine Perzynski). Previously studied nanoscience and nanotechnolgy in an Erasmus Mundus master program in Belgium and France.

Currently a researcher at the University of Latvia, Faculty of physics and mathematics, Lab of Magnetic Soft Materials (mmml.lu.lv). Research interests are connected with experimental studies in soft matter, primarly in magnetic and biological systems. One of the organizers of student trainings for International Physics Olympiad.

At ALYS he wants to promote the comprehension of high quality research and the necessity of international collaboration, ALYS popularity among doctoral students and young scientists, as well as exchange of scientific experience among the members of the organization.

Hobbies – active leisure outdoors, MTB cycling, photography.
